2025 Expedition
The BOLIvian Amazon
Kay Pacha Initiative’s upcoming expedition to the Bolivian Amazon will be in 2025. Our local partner is Sustainable Bolivia, a non-profit that focuses on enacting sustainable development and environmental conservation within the Aquicuana Reserve.
Over the past several years we have been building, equipping, and powering the Motacu research station in the Aquicuana Reserve. This past year we have had volunteers working out of the station for the first time, aiding locals in their conservation efforts.
For this upcoming year, Kay Pacha Initiative will be assisting scientists on several research expeditions, using the station as a base camp. We will also be giving out scholarships to students from the nearby village of Warnes to continue their education, as well as hiring an educator for the station to manage and assist any researchers working out of the Aquicuana Reserve.

WHY THE AQUICUANA IN BOLIVIA
The Amazon Rainforest accounts for a large portion of the oxygen that we as humans breathe on the planet. Now more than ever it is important to protect this area of the world that acts as the lungs of the earth. The Aquicuana Reserve is a protected part of this vast ecosystem, and with our help we will provide Sustainable Bolivia with the necessary supplies and manpower to expand this protected area by 1 million acres over the next 10 years.
HOW KAY PACHA INTENDS TO HELP THE AMAZON
Kay Pacha Initiative will raise money to send volunteers to Bolivia in 2025 for the fifth phase of this project. Our volunteers will help local researchers expand the operations of the Motacu research station. Sustainable Bolivia will use this structure and its equipment so that local biologists can conduct studies that will aid in its efforts to protect and expand the size of the reserve.
